Not medical advice
Everything on beautydewlabs — ingredient explanations, ratings, badges, and routine checks — is informational only and is not medical advice. Skin is personal: what suits one person can irritate another. For medical concerns, pregnancy questions, or persistent skin conditions, please talk to a doctor or dermatologist.
Community guidelines, clearly labeled
Badges marked with an asterisk (like “Fungal-acne friendly*” and “Curly Girl friendly*”) are based on community heuristics applied to the ingredient label — useful rules of thumb, not scientific verdicts. We never make a claim about a product whose label we couldn't read well enough.
Where our data comes from
- Product data comes from OpenBeautyFacts, the open beauty-products database, used under the Open Database License (ODbL).
- Ingredient reference data (official names, functions, EU restrictions) comes from CosIng, the European Commission's cosmetic ingredient database.
- Plain-language benefits and safety flags are human-curated and reviewed. Some ingredient summaries are AI-generated and are always labeled as such.
Accuracy
Labels change, and open data is imperfect. Always check the label on the product you're actually holding — especially for allergies.
